This Scholarship Award was created by Ean Hong's parents to honor the memory of their late son, who passed away while a Brother at the PSU Chapter of Triangle Fraternity. His legacy remains strong with this endowment, as he exemplified the precepts of this Fraternity during his life, both in school and out.

Ean was an outstanding student, and so the academics portion of the score has the heaviest weight. Ean was involved in many activities, often lending a helping hand to others, unable to participate. As such, activities and financial need are equally weighted. Ean was a humble individual, never placing himself above his peers. Because of this, the last portion of the scoring comes from what others have to say about each candidate. Feedback comments should be used to boost the activities and financial need scores, to compensate for academic's heavy weighting.

The present scholarship amounts are (3) awards at $4000 each, to be distributed (2) in the fall semester and (1) in the spring semester. This is subject to available funds with the Triangle Education Foundation, which manages the endowment. At our current position, we have $10,000 available annually to award in scholarship awards.

In the past, we rarely receive active feedback. We strongly encourage each and every active to email the Alumni Scholarship Chair with comments regarding any active brother which may not show up in an application.

• 1 non-voting active representative (possibly the previous winner of the award)

Rules for the Selection Process:

• Award Amount: $1,500
• Any active brother is eligible for the Triangle Ambassador Award, regardless of major. Consideration will be given to brothers who are not eligible for major specific scholarships/awards.
• Applications will be reviewed and graded on an overall subjective scale of 1-100, 100 is the highest score, fractions are permitted.
• Weighted criteria system
• Triangle Involvement: 25%
• Social Organization and Professional Society Activity: 25%
• Community Service (including Triangle activities): 15%
• Other: Work Experience, Academic Grades, Intangibles: 10%
• Essays: 25%
• Combined scores will be shared among selection committee members, however, top score does not guarantee winner.
• The selection committee will discuss the candidates. Committee members will share any additional pertinent information and advocate for their favorite candidates. The committee will discuss until consensus on a single winner is achieved.

Semester Timeline:
This scholarship is awarded once a year as warranted. Scholarship will be presented at the Corporation Meeting. A recognition plaque will be established in the Chapter Room with each winner's name. The Alumni Scholarship Chair and Undergraduate Scholarship Chair will be responsible for maintaining and updating the plaque.

Applicant Criteria:

• After the completion of the previous semester, the candidate has a Penn State undergraduate cumulative GPA of at least a 3.00.
• The candidate was enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program at Penn State University Park Campus OR earned Penn State credits for a full-time Co-op or research assignment for the previous semester and is enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program at Penn State University Park Campus for the current semester.
• The candidate must currently be an active member of the Penn State chapter of Triangle and currently reside in the Penn State Triangle Chapter House.
• The candidate may be awarded this scholarship no more than once, regardless of the amount of the scholarship awarded.
• The candidate is no longer eligible to receive this award after completion of 10 semesters, in total, of full-time graduate or undergraduate study at all accredited universities and colleges, where 2 semesters = 3 trimesters = 4 quarters.
• The candidate is not eligible to receive this award if they have already received the now defunct Triangle Move-in Scholarship.

Rules for the Selection Process:
By the end of the second week of classes, the Active Scholarship Chairman will deliver to the Alumni Scholarship Chairman a list of the names of the candidates who meet the aforementioned application criteria. This list should also include each candidate's cumulative GPA and Penn State semester standing.

The Alumni Scholarship Chairman will confirm that each candidate meets the aforementioned application criteria, most importantly that the candidate has not been previously awarded this scholarship. By the end of the fourth week of classes, the Alumni Scholarship Chairman will provide the Active Treasurer and Active Scholarship Chairman with a list of the names of the candidates who meet the aforementioned application criteria along with the amount of the award offers for each candidate. The award offer amounts will be determined by cumulative GPA and may be adjusted at any time by a simple majority of the vote of the Alumni Exec Board:

By the end of the fifth week of classes, the Active Scholarship Chairman must inform all eligible candidates of the amount of their award offers.

The candidates must submit their decision to accept the award to the Active Treasurer, Active Scholarship Chairman, and Alumni Scholarship Chairman within one week from the date they received their award offers. A failure by the candidate to submit a decision in time will be interpreted by all as the candidate wishing to decline the award.

An example of a reason an individual would want to decline an award is that the individual qualifies for an award, but is planning on working to increase their cumulative GPA in order to qualify for a greater monetary award.

Candidates receive their awards in the form of a deduction of the amount of the candidate's Chapter House room and board for the current semester. If at the time the candidate accepts the award offer, the amount the candidate owes Triangle for room and board AND any other fees is less than the amount of the award, it is the candidate's responsibility to inform the Active Treasurer of the amount of the difference when they submit their decision. It is the responsibility of the Active Treasurer to confirm the correct amount of the difference and issue a check for the correct amount to the candidate. It is the responsibility of the Active Treasurer to seek compensation from the Alumni Treasurer for the total amount of all awards. It is the responsibility of the Alumni Treasurer to confirm the amount of compensation owed to the Active Brotherhood's treasury and to compensate the Active Brotherhood's treasury for the total amount of awards.

The Alumni Scholarship Chairman and Active Scholarship Chairman will each maintain their own notebook, recording the dates, candidates' names, and amounts of awards that are received by candidates.

Applicant Criteria:

• Cumulative college GPA of 3.0 or higher after initiation into Triangle with a minimal of 12 credits taken at Penn State.

Semester Timeline:
If a pledge has a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher after initiation into Triangle, they will be reimbursed the pledge fee as soon as they can show their grades to the active scholarship chair (i.e. the start of the following semester).

Objective:

• Reward Brothers in Engineering Science and Engineering Mechanics

Applicant Criteria:

• Applicant has officially declared his major or minor to be in either Engineering Science or Engineering Mechanics by the end of February of the previous year.
• Applicant is at least a junior (5th semester standing or greater) at PSU

Selection Committee:

• Alumni Exec Board

Rules for the Selection Process:
The award amount is $500. The award is split evenly amongst all applicants that meet the Applicant Criteria. In the event of a dispute over the Applicant Criteria, the Alumni Exec Board determines which applicants have met said Applicant Criteria.

Semester Timeline:
This award is presented annually every Founder's Day Corporation meeting.

Additional Notes:
If there are no applicants for this award in any given year, the award money may be used by the Alumni Exec Board to fund other awards or scholarships.
